Aromatherapy Pure
Anyone into aromatherapy massage or someone whose taken such a massage?
Hi. I would like someone who is either a practicing aromatherapist or someone whose taken an aromatherapy massage (full body) to give me some tips.
At the place I live, I don’t have aromatherapists. I don’t have anybody who’ll do it for me. So I am planning to go for a self-massage. I’ve figured out the composition of my massage oil too.
This is what I want to know:
1) After massaging the entire body with the essential oil blend (in the carrier oil), how long should I let the oils stay on my body before I take a bath?
2) For testing if an essential oil is suitable for my skin, do I put a drop of the pure oil on my skin to see if it irritates or should I mix it in a few drops of base oil and put it on my skin to test?
3) Is there anything that can go wrong by giving a self-massage? Anything in particular that you would want me to make sure?

Giving yourself a massage isn’t quite the same as going to get a massage. You won’t feel as relaxed.
When testing the oils for suitability for your skin, I would test them with the carrier oil. It’s not really necessary for a shower after your massage unless you choose to take one.
An aromatherapist won’t be the one to give you a massage as that’s not in their scope of practice unless they are also a massage therapist. What you need to look for is a massage therapist who will use aromatherapy. You don’t have any spas near you?
My suggestion to you would be to call a couple of local massage therapists and see if maybe they wouldn’t mind using your oil blend instead of their usual lubricant for the massage. I’ve had clients do that before and as long as I know what’s in it, I’m usually OK with that.
